Speak Fearlessly

Foucault’s Parrhesia is an idea that many might hope to embody but are unable to for more reasons than we want to admit. Speaking openly and candidly comes with consequences. Power surrounds us all, and we do not wield it ourselves for many of us.

I hope this space will allow me to be honest with myself and the world. I hope to stand behind truth-telling in ways that empower me to be courageous and fearless. I understand there is risk in anything we might share that could challenge power, and I hope that I weigh the risk and do what is best for those who might not have the power to speak change into being. I know there is a duty to uphold one’s beliefs. I value learning, acceptance, growth, and wellbeing. I hope to center these needs while bringing my sense of humor and staying humble. I will do what I can to encourage those with little to no power to feel seen and valued. I will look for ways to enlighten and share the stage when possible.

Controversy often precedes change. I hope this space can spur progress in how I approach this world and my work.
