Are you happy?

It’s such a simple question. We all know the answer, but how often do we actually answer it truthfully? Are you? Happy?

To answer that, first we must figure out what it actually means to be happy. Wow, what a statement, huh?

Well, let’s look at the typical answers: family, houses, friends, money, things, co-workers, hobbies, job, love. All of these things can contribute to your happiness, but unless YOU allow yourself the opportunity to be happy even these things won’t have an effect.

Our lives are so often a blur. A blur of work responsibilities, family responsibilities, goals we feel we HAVE to attain, people we feel we HAVE to deal with, and that ever-multiplying list of errands. These are the things that can weigh us down in our past and make us fearful of our futures. These are the things that so often push our minds away from the calming moments.

It has taken me my entire life to only begin to see that our pursuit of happiness isn’t what we have always assumed it to be. It isn’t ecstasy. It isn’t a never-ending joy. It IS contentment in the moment. It is a peace you find within yourself by realizing what it is that makes you, YOU. Only when you slow down, can you ever truly investigate the person inside yourself. And without that investigation, even you may not have an answer to the simplest of questions.

We are each a universe unto ourselves. Some of those universes are teeming with life while others are collapsing in on themselves.

Here’s to your power of creativity. #makeyourhappyhappen Cheers.
